Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) photo-rejuvenation treatment is ideal for those showing signs of premature aging and who cannot afford the recovery time associated with other procedures. IPL transmits a precise beam of light through the skin which is absorbed by either the blood when treating vascular lesions which coagulates and closes the vessel or the melanin when treating pigmented lesions causing damage to the lesion. The body’s natural processes then remove the injured tissue giving the skin a more even and youthful appearance. IPL also stimulates the fibroblast cells within the skin that produce collagen and elastin. IPL photo-rejuvenation is an extremely successful method of treating a number of skin concerns including sun damaged skin (age spots or sun spots), facial blood vessels (broken capillaries) that are close to the surface of the skin, uneven pigmentation, dull skin, fine lines, wrinkling and facial redness due to rosacea.
IPL photo-rejuvenation is a non-invasive, safe method to improve the look and feel of the skin without undergoing the pain and downtime associated with deep laser resurfacing. Deep laser resurfacing removes the entire epidermis leaving the skin vulnerable to infection and requires 3-4 weeks of patient downtime and an even longer time to complete healing. IPL treatments can be performed over your lunch break and you can return to work immediately after.
IPL treatment promotes the production of collagen in the skin making it possible to shrink sebaceous glands (oil glands), and pore size, with repeated treatments. The number of treatments necessary to achieve this result may vary from patient to patient.
After only one treatment, your skin will have a more even tone with a smoother look and feel. Sunspots will fade. Pore sizes will shrink. Fine lines and wrinkles will gradually decrease in size. These improvements will steadily increase with each treatment. Patients with rosacea will see a progressive decrease in redness with every treatment.
To achieve optimal results 4-8 treatments are recommended at 3-6 week intervals. Results usually last up to a year. After the initial treatment yearly touch-up treatments are recommended. IPL is an excellent choice for women and men of all ages considering treatment for various skin problems including: Sun damage (age spots), Fine lines and wrinkles, Hyper-pigmentation, Acne, Rosacea, Broken capillaries, Enlarged pores and Unwanted hair. IPL photo-rejuvenation treatments can be performed on the face, neck, chest, hands, and arms. IPL Photo-rejuvenation treatments cannot be performed on anyone with tanned skin or very dark skin (types 5 & 6).
